This album includes, among a variety of other things, recordings obtained on a folk-song collecting trip made during the Summer of 1956 by Diane Hamilton, Liam Clancy, and Paul Clayton. Some selections were recorded in Virginia and North Carolina.

Sides E and F are an apparently uncredited re-release of the 1956 album "Bowling Green" by the Kossoy Sisters.
